William Sinda

William Sinda of Riverhead died Dec. 12 at Riverhead Care Center. He was 79.

He was born May 10, 1931, to Lea and Stanley Sinda in Manhattan, where he was raised and attended school. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952, attaining the rank of corporal and earning a purple heart and two bronze stars.
On April 17, 1988, he married Carole Patrone in St. James.

Mr. Sinda worked for United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 7 for 50 years and had earned his gold card.

According to his family, he enjoyed woodworking and being a craftsman, making such items as hobbyhorses and furniture.
Predeceased by his siblings John and Josephine, he is survived by his wife; children, William, of New Orleans, La., Edward, of Maryland, John, of North Carolina, Jennifer, of New Hampshire, and Annette, Karen and Holly, all of Long Island; brothers Michael and Albert, both of California; and eight grandchildren.

Family will receive visitors Wednesday, Dec. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Funeral services will be held that day at 3 p.m. by Tom Tobin with military honors. Private cremation will be held.
