  • The gracious Passionists have once again helped to rescue a summer program. It underscores what a vital part of the Island that St. Gabriel’s still is. The closing remains sadly, once of the biggest losses in recent memory for all of Shelter Island.

  • I think it should be voiced that as the NY SED approved the 1992 construction, it should be responsible for the cost of any required construction unless building code has materially changed since then. Their incompetence should not come at our expense. I am a year round Project FIT member and I can tell you that much revenue will be lost from disenchanted summer residents who won’t sign up this year. With a $26bn budget for the SED and our ailing school, it’s obvious major changes are needed.
