Cornell Cooperative offers classes for parents
Cornell Cooperative Extension in Riverhead is offering workshops aimed at helping parents better understand their children and enhance the family experience:
“Kids as Consumers,” on Jan. 19 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will focus on how materialism, marketing and media affect families and introduce simple approaches to counteract their impact. This workshop is free.
On Jan. 26, also 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., “Why Young Children Behave the Way They Do” will outline developmental stages, explore temperament and its effect on behavior and help parents develop realistic expectations for their children. There is a $25 fee for this workshop.
