David Franklin Moore

David Franklin Moore died Dec. 10, 2010, at the age of 53. A nine-year resident of Calverton, he was living at his mother’s home at the time of his death.

He was born Oct. 5, 1957, at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore to Emma Louise and Joseph Franklin Moore. He graduated from Islip High School in 1976 and had been a member of the Islip Fire Department.

Mr. Moore worked as a tow truck driver. According to his mother, he loved cars, trucks and racing, and had also been a fireman at Islip Speedway and, later, Riverhead Raceway.

In addition to his mother, of Calverton, Mr. Moore is survived by his sisters, Susan Cruickshank of North Carolina and Ellen Millar of Pennsylvania.

Cremation was private. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Jan. 16, at 1 p.m. at the Islip Fire Department.

  • Oh, that’s right, I forgot. When it snows heavily, the MTA takes our East End diesel trains and any plow trains to western L.I. to service everyone else. Coumo- time to abolish the MTA now and start over!!!

  • I think they forgot to say we were also on the train for 2 hours and 15 mins. before the powers to be got there to take everyone off the train.What a bunch of knuckle heads!
