Arthur G. Seaman

Arthur G. Seaman, formerly of Manorville and Merritt Island, Fla., died Dec. 30 in Riverhead. He was 99 and in the process of moving back to Long Island to live with his granddaughter when he became ill.

He worked for many years as a farmer in Manorville, growing potatoes in the spring and early summer and cauliflower in late summer and fall. After selling his farm, he worked for Grumman in Calverton for 22 years.

Predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Thelma (née Courtenay), Mr. Seaman is survived by his `children, Janice Moffatt of New Bern, N.C., Joann, of Douglasville, N.C., and Joyce Hettrick of Merritt Island, Fla.; five grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Private cremation took place Jan. 3 at Mount Pleasant Crematory in Center Moriches. A memorial service was held Jan. 8, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Riverhead. Memorial donations to a charitable organization of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
