Chamber to honor community leaders

Jim and Connie Lull, who ran the Riverhead Country Fair for close to three decades before stepping aside in the fall, will be honored as the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce’s Persons of the Year during the chamber’s annual awards party on Friday, Jan. 21, at Hotel Indigo on Route 25 in Riverhead.

The chamber will also honor the Dark Horse Restaurant on Main Street as Business of the Year. The Agricultural Green Key award goes to Long Island Vodka.

In a new category, Riverhead student Drew Achilich, who designed a T-shirt to raise money for the victims of the Horton Avenue flooding, will receive the Spirit of Riverhead Award.

Tracy Stark-James of the Riverhead Empire Zone will be honored as the chamber’s Director of the Year. The chamber’s Gold Key Award has been renamed the Linda Dieterich Gold Key Award in honor of Ms. Dieterich, an attorney and former chamber board member who passed away last year. Ms. Dieterich will be the first recipient of the new award.

The evening of cocktails, light dinner fare and dancing begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $60 per person or $100 per couple.
