Police: These guys are handing out counterfeit bills

The Riverhead Police Department are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate two men who used counterfeit $100 bills to purchase merchandise at Riverhead Walmart, according to Suffolk County Crime Stoppers.

An unknown man used five counterfeit $100 bills to purchase a Dyson vacuum cleaner valued at almost $500 at the Walmart on Old Country Road Dec. 15.

On the same day at the same Walmart, another unknown male subject used five counterfeit $100 bills to purchase another Dyson vacuum cleaner valued at $433, after first attempting to use an invalid credit card, police said.

The subjects subsequently returned the vacuum cleaners to the Walmart in Commack for cash, police said.  

Anyone with information about this crime is being asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.  All calls will be kept confidential. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
