Vera Zebrowski

Vera Zebrowski, formerly of Riverhead, died Jan. 16 at The Kingston Hospital in Kingston, N.Y. She was 82 and had lived in West Saugerties, N.Y., for 10 years.

She was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Riverhead to Thomas and Mary Szczepanik, and lived there for 72 years. On Jan. 29, 1950, she married Louis Zebrowski, and, according to family, was anticipating celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary.

Family said she cooked “phenomenal” Polish food, and they routinely begged for her pierogi, which took her an entire day to make. She enjoyed arts and crafts, made her own Christmas decorations and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by her son David, four brothers and a sister, she is survived by her husband; her daughters, Sharon Burton of Saugerties, Joanne Vollmoeller of Riverhead, Diane Kenna of East Greenbush, N.Y., and Patricia Minnick of Mount Marion, N.Y.; her son Thomas, of Connecticut; her brother Bill Stevens of Florida; 17 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Cremation was private.
