Riverhead Blotter: Cops say DWI driver crashed into LIPA pole

• A Riverhead man was arrested for driving drunk this week after he crashed his car into a LIPA pole, authorities said. Police said Laurence Corey, 47, hit the pole on Main Road in Aquebogue just after 2 a.m. Sunday. Mr. Corey was subsequently charged with DWI.
• A Wading River woman told town police someone had entered her North Wading River Road home through a window and removed several items. The theft was reported about 5:30 p.m. Monday. No arrests were made.

• Joseph Gilliam, 38, of Riverhead was arrested and charged with third-degree assault at police headquarters about 11:30 a.m. last Wednesday. No additional information was available. Mr. Gilliam pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, reduced from third-degree assault, and was fined $330 and sentenced to 15 days in jail.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
