Cops hunt theives in iPod heist

Police are offering a $5K award for the capture of these two men.

Riverhead Police are on the hunt for two suspects who swiped $12,000 worth of iPod Mp3 players from the Route 58 WalMart. And they need the public’s help in finding them.

Detectives say the suspects entered the box store through an unlocked door about 2 a.m. on Oct. 17 and headed directly to the electronics section. They broke open the display cabinet with an unknown object and grabbed the iPods and left the store.

Police released a photo of the suspects Friday taken from a surveillance footage. Anyone who recognizes the men are being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. Police are offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest.

All calls will be kept confidential.
