Police: Man who fled had cocaine
A Southampton man was nabbed by State Troopers Saturday after he tried to flee from Riverhead Police while allegedly driving with cocaine on him, authorities said.
State Police found the Lexus 44-year-old Carl Morgan allegedly used to flee police parked in the driveway of a home on Fanning Boulevard in Flanders — with Mr. Morgan inside.
Police ordered Mr. Morgan to show his hands, though he kept reaching down between the seats. Mr. Morgan eventually complied and was arrested. A bag of cocaine was found inside the vehicle, according to police.
Mr. Morgan was charged with DWI, seventh- and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, unlawfully fleeing police, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and traffic violations.
