A convicted sex offender was arrested at her job at the Riverhead K-Mart store on Route 58 Tuesday evening for failing to update her address on the New York State Sex Offender Registry, according to Southampton Town Police.

Katherine Hand, 49, of Holbrook last listed her address in Hampton Bays, according to the registry, though police said she had not lived there since October 2010.

Ms. Hand, who has also reported employers in Mattituck, Riverhead and Cutchogue, was charged with failing to register as a sex offender about 10:30 p.m. She was held overnight for an appearance in Southampton Town Justice Court and is being held at the Suffolk County Jail in Riverside after failing to make $35,000 bail.

Ms. Hand was arrested by Southampton Town Police in Feb. 1994 and later convicted of second-degree sodomy. Her victim was a 13-year-old girl.
