Riverhead school budget presentation and board meeting set for Tuesday

Riverhead School District officials will present the proposed 2011-12 $110.3 million budget for a fourth time Tuesday at Aquebogue Elementary School on Main Road at 7 p.m.

The spending plan carries a 1.96 percent spending increase over last year’s $108 million budget, though the tax levy — the amount of cash the district collects from taxpayers — is expected to jump 5.97 percent from $82.7 million this year to $87.7 million in 2011-12.

The school board is also expected to OK a revised proposition on the May ballot that, if approved by voters, would allow the school district to allot $3 million of unreserved funds for a repair fund, according to tomorrow’s agenda.
