Shoreham-Wading River: Girls’ lacrosse fundraiser and library programs

Wow! It feels so much better with milder temperatures making the snow disappear around us. Just the thought of not dealing with the ice anymore makes the winds of March seem so much calmer.

Speaking of March, happy birthday to Jean Hazard, who celebrates on March 5. Everyone who knows Jean agrees that she is a wonderful person with absolutely “the best” personality: generous, kind, funny, sympathetic, compassionate, with a real sense of adventure and genuine love for life. I love you, Jean, and I’m proud to be your sister.

Speaking of family, according to Dick and Sharon Green of Calverton, Lewin Hills in Wading River received a very special delivery on Jan. 10. Hudson Edward Fragnito was born to proud parents Chris and Trisha Fragnito and joins his brother, Hunter Todd. Dick and Sharon are the beaming grandparents and they assure us that “all is well and he is growing strong.”

Shoreham-Wading River girls’ lacrosse players are springing into action by raising money for their program. On Friday, March 11, they will host their third annual “Face-Off Fundraiser.” Adults may join them at Tommy’s Place, 42 Broadway, Rocky Point. Tickets are $35, and include a buffet dinner with unlimited beverages, a 50/50 raffle and a chinese auction. For information and tickets, contact Paula Constant at 516-458-1492 or see a SWR varsity player. Come down and celebrate to support the four-time New York State champions.

If you feel like getting out and springing into action, I have an idea for you. You can do both by joining Rhythm and Soul Dance Studio owner Kelly Ficarra for a salsa dance session at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at North Shore Public Library in Shoreham. Learn some new moves that you can show off later on the dance floor. No partners are necessary. Then at 2:30 p.m., the music will start to really warm up, as you stay on and listen to Mambo Loco. To register online, call 929-4488; to find out about all the other programs the library has to offer, visit northshorepubliclibrary.org.

Have a great week and we’ll meet again!
