A cracked windshield led to drug and alcohol charges for a Shirley woman last weekend, according to Southampton Town Police.
Cherish Simmons, 26, of Ashwood Drive in Shirley was pulled over Saturday at 1:41 a.m. on Peconic Avenue in Riverside for a cracked and distorted windshield, according to police.

Ms. Simmons had an odor of alcohol on her breath and admitted to drinking three beers earlier, according to police. Later, at police headquarters, she was discovered to be in possession of marijuana, and she had no license, police said. Ms. Simmons was charged with driving while ability impaired, unlawful possession of marijuana and driving without a license.

• John Mims, 32, of West Street in Greenport was charged with driving while intoxicated Saturday at 4 a.m. on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays after he was pulled over for speeding. An officer discovered that his license had been suspended, according to police. Mr. Mims refused to submit to a chemical test, police said.

• Gony Mejia, 35, of Kay Road in Calverton was pulled over for running a stop sign Friday morning at about 9 a.m, according to police. After stopping him, the officer discovered that his license had been revoked as a result of a prior DWI conviction, police said. He was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed driving and failure to stop at a stop sign,  

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
