As a midfielder for Shoreham-Wading River, Kaitlyn Brosco always managed to take her game to a higher level in the team’s biggest games. It’s an attribute she’s carried to college.

A freshman for Notre Dame, Brosco scored four goals last Saturday for the Fighting Irish in a 13-10 win over No. 16 Georgetown, the team’s biggest win of the season. It was the first loss for Georgetown in the Big East. Brosco scored three goals in the first half and her fourth goal gave Notre Dame a 10-4 lead.

In Notre Dame’s previous game April 20, a 12-10 overtime loss to No. 17 Vanderbilt, Brosco also tallied four goals with an assist.

Her back-to-back scoring surges earned her the Womenslax.com Rookie of the Week honor. She also moved into the team lead in goals with 26, one ahead of Shaylyn Blaney, a senior who graduated from Ward Melville. No Notre Dame freshman has ever led the team in goals for a season.

Brosco is third on the team in total points with 32. She’s started eight of the team’s 15 games. Notre Dame is currently 4-2 in the Big East and 7-8 overall. The Irish close out the regular season with games at Louisville and Cincinnati before the Big East Tournament.

At Shoreham-Wading River Brosco helped lead the Wildcats to four state championships. She was the first three-time All-American in lacrosse and finished her career second in goals and points.
