John F. Gannon Sr.

John F. Gannon Sr. of Hampton Bays died May 26 at Southampton Hospital. He was 93.

He was born June 10, 1917, in Astoria, Queens, and lived in Flushing before moving to Hampton Bays in the 1960s. He worked for Canada Dry delivering soda in New York City for many years and later worked as a handyman.

Family members said he enjoyed fishing and playing golf and was always working, even into his 90s.

Predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Edith (Graham) Gannon, in 2005 and his son Dennis in 2009, Mr. Gannon is survived by his sons John Jr. and Timothy, both of Hampton Bays; and his brother, Eugene, of Franklin, N.C. He was also predeceased by his brother, James, and his sister, Marion Ladden.

Visiting hours will take place Sunday, May 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays, where a prayer service will be held at 3 p.m. A memorial service will take place Monday, May 30, at 9 a.m. at St. Rosalie’s R.C. Church and interment will be at Good Ground Cemetery, both in Hampton Bays.
