Two rushed to hospital following fire on Rabbit Run in Riverhead

At least two people were rushed to an area hospital following a fire near a home on Rabbit Run in Riverhead Saturday evening, officials said.

Riverhead Fire Department Chief Nick Luparella said a person was in the process of being airlifted to a nearby hospital. He said the fire occurred outside a home and that the victim was not a firefighter.

He said the fire did not occur inside a home.

“It’s a police matter now,” he said.

Riverhead Police said a second ambulance was called to the scene to transport another victim.

The fire was reported at 7:36 p.m.
