A suspicious object found at the Target store in Riverhead briefly prompted a potential bomb scare Tuesday afternoon, according to Riverhead Town Police.

The device, which was inside a box with wires and a timer attached, was found by an employee inside the store, according to Riverhead Police Detective Sergeant Joseph Loggia. It was then moved to the parking lot by an employee, police said. The Suffolk County Police Emergency Service Unit was called to the scene to examine the object and said it was not an explosive device.

Police responded to the R0ute 58 store about 4:30 p.m.

No arrests have been made.
