Cops seek elderly woman for swiping wallet at Walmart

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding an elderly woman who was caught by surveillance cameras swiping a lost wallet at the Riverhead Walmart last month.

The gray-haired woman was wearing a light purple shirt and white pants when police say she picked up a wallet that had been dropped by another shopper and secreated into her own purse about noon on May 31.

She then drove off in a green or blue Toyota Rav4 compact SUV.

“The wallet and its contents were not returned to their rightful owner,” police said in a release.

Anyone with information is being asked to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.  Police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
