1) When did you get the car?
I purchased the car in 2004. I bought it on speculation. It belonged to my nephew Durrell Brown. He was a little afraid of driving it. He handed the keys to me and said ‘have at it’.

2) What shape was it in?
It is a modified pro street car. It was in excellent shape. I had to redo the engine —rebuilt it and added more horsepower. It had 400 and now has 700 horsepower.

3) What was the biggest challenge in restoring it?
The biggest challenge was the engine. I’ve restored engines like this back in the day. I used to own Pace Auto Body in Peconic and before that Bold in Greenport. Now I work out of my garage at home.

4) What’s your favorite thing/feature on the car?
The engine. It was dynoed (determines the torque or power characteristics of an engine), it makes it a more solid 700 horsepower.

5) What was the first car you owned, make and model?
My first car was a 1962 Volkswagon —silver, gray and black. I bought it in 1971 and paid $100 for it. I had it for about a year. I was driving to Greenport and the wind was so strong, I blew the motor up. After that, I bought a 1961 Chevrolet Biscayne.
