Achievements: Local students earn honors aplenty

• Gwen Fuller of Riverhead has been awarded the Maurice Flecker Scholarship for spring 2011 by the Department of Arts and Humanities at Suffolk County Community College

• George Prete and Tyler Danowski, both of Riverhead, have been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Conn.

• Melanie Griffith, child of Allen and Liz Griffith of Riverhead, in May received a master’s degree in fine arts, nonfiction writing, from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, N.Y.

• Jasmyne McPherson of Riverhead recently received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from SUNY/New Paltz.
