Health Beat: Help in dealing with diabetes

• Cornell Cooperative Extension will host a food allergies training session on Friday, Aug. 5, 9 a.m. to noon. The program is ideal for professionals who work with children. There’s a $20 registration fee. Call 727-7850, ext. 355.

Cornell will also host a family health and wellness program offering a diabetes defense class on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m. The program will provide information on how lifestyle changes can control and lower the risk for diabetes. The fee is $10. Call 727-7850, ext. 34

• Peconic Bay Medical Center will host a diabetes support group with chiropractor Dr. Richard Bogdanski and a dental hygenist on Friday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. in Conference Room B on the hospital’s second floor. Call Laureen Work at 882-0201.
