Flanders brothers arrested after Cabana Latina attack

Two brothers from Flanders were arrested Saturday night after attacking a 22-year-old Amagansett man at Cabana Latina in Flanders, Southampton Town Police said.

Cops were called to the Route 24 establishment shortly before 6:30 p.m. for reports of a disturbance when they arrested Evilio Velasquez, 22, and Gerard0 Velasquez, 27, on assault charges for allegedly beating on 22-year-old Enrique Monje-Pucha.

Evilio Velasquez allegedly struck Mr. Monje-Puch in the head with a beer bottle and Gerardo Velasquez allegedly punched and kicked him while he was on the ground.

Mr. Monje-Pucha was later taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment, though the beating victim didn’t give authorities his real name at first, police said.

Mr. Monje-Pucha was charged with false personation and obstructing governmental administration, both misdemeanors, officials said.

The Velasquez brothers were held overnight for an arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court.

Mr. Monje-Pucha was released on $500 bail.
