Football: Maysonet earns Player of the Week honors for Stony Brook

Former Hansen Award-winner Miguel Maysonet of Riverhead earned Big South Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring four touchdowns in Stony Brook University’s 37-20 win Saturday over Lafayette at LaValle Stadium.

Maysonet, who helped lead the Blue Waves to an undefeated Long Island Championship in 2008, tied a school, Big South and LaValle Stadium record with his four touchdown performance. It was the first win of the season for the Seawolves.

Maysonet carried the ball 22 times for a career-high 194 yards, 156 of which came in the second half.

He scored on runs of 35, 1, 30 and 9 yards.

A junior halfback, Maysonet is in his second full season with Stony Brook. He originally attended Hofstra before the program was cut following his freshman season.
