Beatrice McKenney Kerlin Madison

Beatrice McKenney Kerlin Madison, 88, passed away on Oct. 2 after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Riverhead on June 13, 1923, to Ralph and Lora Gay McKenney.

She lived and worked in Jacksonville, Fla., for over 30 years and retired from the Army Corps of Engineers. She moved to Okeechobee, Fla., and lived there for over 24 years before returning to Jacksonville six years ago to be close to her son and family. She greatly enjoyed oil painting and all kinds of crafts.

Survivors include her devoted son, Thomas R. Kerlin, and his wife, Heather; her sister Carol Terry and her husband, Rich; four grandchildren: Cheri Fisher (Tim), Cas Carnes (Chad), Mark Kerlin (Casey) and Steven Kerlin; three great-grandchildren: Brittany Moore, Sutton Kerlin and Chas Kerlin Carnes; several nieces and nephews; and wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Juanita Savage, Elizabeth Fischer and Barbara Baugher.

A memorial service in her honor was held Oct. 8 in the backyard at her son’s home, where she always enjoyed spending time. Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home in Jacksonville assisted the family.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
