Today in sports: SWR boys soccer in battle for first

In a crowded League VI, the Shoreham-Wading River boys soccer team will look to keep pace this afternoon when John Glenn pays a visit to Shoreham.

The Wildcats, who graduated a big portion of their roster after last season, have gotten off to a terrific start in 2011. Coming into today the Wildcats at 4-1-1 in league and in a three-way tie for first place along with Westhampton and East Hampton. John Glenn isn’t far behind at 4-2.

Every game at this point is a big one for the Wildcats, who will be looking to not only secure a playoff spot, but try to earn a high enough seed for a home playoff game.

The Wildcats won 2-1 against Glenn back in September.

Game time for today is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
