Today in sports: Shoreham hosts Division IV girls tennis finals

The top singles and doubles teams in high school girls tennis will be crowned in division tournaments throughout Suffolk County today. Players from Bishop McGann-Mercy, Mattituck, Riverhead, Shoreham-Wading River and Southold/Greenport are competing in the three-day Division IV individual championships, which conclude today at Shoreham-Wading River High School at 2 p.m.

Among the local singles players who were expected to do well in the tournament are Erica Bundrick of Mattituck, Aimee Manfredo of Shoreham-Wading River and Sara Stromski of Southold/Greenport. The McGann-Mercy first doubles team of Erica Blanco and Shannon Merker entered the tournament with an 11-2 record.
