Police: Bed, Bath & Beyond worker sexually abused, held captive inside store

A woman reported that she was groped by a fellow employee at the Bed, Bath & Beyond store in Riverhead and kept inside the store until she was freed by another employee just after midnight last Thursday, according to town police.

The victim, who reported the incident to police later that day, said the man met her in the rear of the building and prevented her from leaving. He then allegedly groped her all over her body and forced her hand on his penis after she repeatedly told him to stop. Another employee opened the back door and the victim was able to escape.

The woman reported the matter to town police, though authorities have yet to make an arrest as of Tuesday.

A manager who answered the phone at the store declined to comment on the incident.
