State Senator Patty Ritchie (R-Oswegatchie), chairwoman of the New York State Senate agriculture committee, is hosting an Agriculture Business Forum event at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, at Riverhead Town Hall.

The forums — others have been held throughout the state — will help shape and set the legislative agenda on agricultural issues for the Senate session that begins in January, officials said.

“New York’s agricultural economy is strong, and poised for even more growth,” Mr. Ritchie said. “My forums are helping to identify hurdles to that growth, and finding solutions that will help farmers and small business leaders to take advantage of new ideas, markets and opportunities.”

The events bring together farm owners, suppliers, manufacturers, academics and “leading agricultural experts” to discuss ideas and current challenges.

Anyone interested in offering testimony at the forum can call (518) 455-3438.

Riverhead Town Hall is located at 200 Howell Avenue, Riverhead, N.Y. 11901, or call (631) 727-3200.
