OMG! How Terrible: East Main Street store going out of business

A downtown shop will soon be closing its doors for good after just eight months in business, according to signs posted on the storefront.

OMG! How Cute, which sells toys and novelty items, has posted a going out of business signs in its windows and is advertising a closing sale.

Long time owners of Comfort Keepers in Riverhead, Helene Korbin and Carol Burghardt opened the East Main Street shop in February in a section of downtown where there are many empty storefronts.

Ms. Korbin and Ms. Burghardt could not immediately be reached for comment.

Ms. Korbin, who is from Mattituck and Ms. Burghardt, who is from Jamesport, were inspired to set up shop in downtown Riverhead because the nearby Hyatt Hotel and The Riverhead Project restaurant opened earlier this year. The pair will continue to run Comfort Keepers, a service which provides non-medical elder care.

Boulder Creek in Riverhead also closed this week and was auctioning off its equipment Monday.
