Irene Fedun of Jamesport died Oct. 28 at the Westhampton Care Center. She was 86.
She was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Rykacze, Poland, to Peter and Alexandra Mioduszewski, one of three children.
Raised in Quogue, she graduated from Westhampton Beach High School in 1944, then went to work at the Department of Motor Vehicles. She married Edward Fedun in 1955. After having children, she worked as a teacher’s aide at Riley Avenue Elementary School in Riverhead for 10 years before retiring.
Family members said she was an excellent cook who enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, golf and her card groups.
She is survived by her husband; her children, Sandy Tyte, Michael and Patrick; her sister, Wanda Yancy of Arizona; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Stanley Miodus.
The family received friends Nov. 5 at a funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. Arrangements were handled by McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
