Leda Vlacci

Riverhead resident Leda Vlacci died Nov. 11 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 84.

She was born June 20, 1927, to Erminio and Maria Sambo in Lucine Grande, Italy. In 1955 she came to America, where she worked in New York City as a seamstress.

Marrying Emilio Vlacci in 1959, she became a homemaker and, according to her family, enjoyed raising her children and entertaining family and friends. The family moved to Riverhead in 1974, where she enjoyed gardening and living near the beaches, family said.

Ms. Vlacci was predeceased by her husband and her brother, Oscar Sambo. She is survived by her sons, Richard and Frank, both of Riverhead; her sister, Wilma Semenzato of Queens; and four grandchildren.

Visiting hours were held Nov. 13. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home, Riverhead. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 14 at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, followed by interment at St. Isidore Cemetery, both in Riverhead.
