Riverhead Column: Warm winter accessories wanted for library ‘Mitten Tree’
Riverhead High School’s Class of 1971 held its 40th reunion Nov. 12 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Riverhead. Some attendees traveled from as far away as Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas and Arizona. Faculty members who attended included science teacher Bruce Dinsmore, math teacher Ann Womack-DeGrasse and administrator Tony DeGrasse. Music was provided by Mike Ryan and the Flying Casuals. Name badges with photographs from the yearbook were pinned onto blue-and-white leis and handed out to the guests upon arrival. The June 1971 graduation program was enlarged and hung on the wall near a table containing other memorabilia and party favors such as bubbles, tiny pencils and phone books with magnifying glasses. Everyone had a great time. The next morning some of the alumni gathered in front of the old high school for a picture.
