Southampton Blotter: Felony DWI arrest in Flanders with multiple charges
Southampton Town Police arrested Jonathan A. Restrepo, 23, of Southampton on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at about 10:16 p.m. on Flanders Road in Flanders after receiving a call about an erratic driver in a vehicle matching Mr. Restrepo’s.
After spotting the vehicle, the arresting officer saw Mr. Restrepo almost strike a parked vehicle.
Investigation revealed he was driving in an intoxicated condition. Also, he had a suspended license for a prior DWI; his car was not equipped with the court-ordered ignition interlock device; his car was uninsured, uninspected and had license plates that did not belong on his vehicle.
Mr. Restrepo was arrested at the scene on multiple charges: driving while intoxicated, a felony; aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, first degree, a felony; circumventing an interlock device, a misdemeanor; and multiple traffic infractions.
At police headquarters, while he was being processed, Mr. Restrepo punched and kicked the arresting officer, who was not injured. Mr. Restrepo was additionally charged with harassment, second degree, a violation. He was held overnight for arraignment in the morning.
