Flanders dump truck driver involved in Central Islip crash

A dump truck driver from Flanders was involved in a two-car crash in Central Islip that left a 57-year-old man with serious injuries Monday, Suffolk Police said.

Authorities said Scott Keyser, 51, of Flanders was driving a 1997 Mack truck northbound on Carleton Avenue about 12:20 p.m. when he collided with a 1996 Cadillac DeVille that was heading eastbound on Smith Street.

The driver of the Cadillac, Paul Harris, was seriously injured and taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in serious condition.

Mr. Keyser was not charged in the crash, but police are still investigating.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. The Mack truck is owned by owned by Winter Brothers Recycling Corporation. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 220-TIPS.
