Cops: Residents caught and held tire-swiper until officers arrived

A 48-year-old man who tried to swipe two car tires and rims from a Flanders Road property Saturday night was instead caught and held by residents until police arrived and arrested him, Southampton Police said.

Gregory Powell of Flanders was arrested about 7 p.m., charged with petit larceny and released without bail.
