Phyllis E. Young

Phyllis E. Young of Riverhead died Dec. 29, 2011, at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 87.

She was born Feb. 9, 1924, in Riverhead to Edgar and Mabel Oliver and was a homemaker for most of her adult life. According to family members, she enjoyed playing bingo.

Predeceased by her husband, Harold “Peanuts” Young, on Sept. 15, 2011, she is survived by her daughters, Ethielyn, Phyllis, Patricia and Jenny; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead, where a service will be conducted Tuesday, Jan. 3, by Mother Mary of Grace Episcopal Church in Riverhead. Interment will be at Sound Avenue Cemetery in Northville.
