Samuel E. and Grace A. Sadler

Samuel E. and Grace A. Sadler of Riverhead died, respectively, on Nov. 15 and Dec. 20, 2011.

Mr. Sadler, 82, died at Riverhead Care Center. His wife died at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead at the age of 83.

Mr. Sadler was born in Riverhead March 7, 1929, to Samuel F. and Dagmar (Jensen) Sadler. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952, attaining the rank of corporal, and received the Korean Service and United Nations Service medals.

Ms. Sadler was born May 21, 1928, in Brooklyn to Bernard and Alice (Dement) Cavallaro.

They were married April 15, 1951, in Riverhead, and both worked in the Riverhead School District, he as head custodian and she as a clerk/typist.

The Sadlers are survived by two daughters, Amy Kernes and Peggy Meyer; a son, Tim; and two grandsons. Mr. Sadler is also survived by his sister, Dagmar Stephenson.
