Dorothy Jahrsdoerfer of Calverton died Dec. 19, 2011, at Peconic Bay Medical Center’s Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Riverhead. She was 92.
She was born Sept. 22, 1919, in Brooklyn to Francis and Florence (Wilson) Larkin, She married Joseph A. Jahrsdoerfer in 1941 in Brooklyn and was a homemaker for most of her adult life.
She enjoyed casino junkets to Foxwoods and other venues and liked to play the one-armed bandit slot machines, according to family members. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they said.
Predeceased by her husband in 1997, she is survived by her sons, Joseph, of Oyster Bay, and Lee, of Glen Cove; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours took place Dec. 21 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A service was held Dec. 22 at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead, Father Robert Kuznik officiating. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.
