Robert E. Brown

Robert E. Brown of Flanders died Dec. 23, 2011, in Riverhead. He was 92.

He was born Oct. 23, 1919, in Brooklyn to John and Emma (Smith) Brown. He took courses at Columbia University in New York City and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a perfume chemist at Bayer Pharmaceuticals in New Jersey.

Predeceased by his wife, Juanita, in 1985, and his daughter Carol Savage in 2011, Mr. Brown is survived by three daughters, Lois Pryor, Elaine McGinness and Beth Kirby; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his sisters Viola, Dorothy, Thelma and Mildred.

Visiting hours were held Dec. 28 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. A service took place Dec. 29 at Calverton National Cemetery, followed by interment.
