Greenport Harbor Brewing Company announced Friday it will expand its distribution across Long Island through a partnership with a Brooklyn-based distribution company.

The Greenport brewery’s staffers have distributed kegs to about 100 establishments on the Island since it opened in 2009, said brewer Greg Doroski.

Union Beer Distributors of New York has delivered the local craft beer to all five boroughs of New York City and six upstate counties since March 2010.

Starting Feb. 1, the distribution company will take over in distributing Greenport Harbor Brewing Company products across Nassau and Suffolk counties.

“The ability to partner with a premiere craft distributor like Union Beer Distributors is a win-win situation not only for our company but also for out customers,” Richard Vandenburgh, who co-founded the brewery with John Liegey, said in a press release. “Union has the ability to offer a wide range of excellent craft products in addition to our locally-made artisanal beers, allowing our customer base to expand their repertoire of exceptional craft beers.”

The distribution company promised to triple the local brewery’s sales, according to the press release.

Greenport Harbor Brewing Company, which is opening a second location at the vacant Lucas Ford dealership building in Peconic, also plans to begin a bottling operation within the next two years.

The brewery first opened in 2009 on Carpenter Street in Greenport.
