Police hunt U.S. government credit card thief in Riverhead

SURVEILLANCE PHOTO

Cops say an unknown man went on a $2,750 shopping spree in the Riverhead Walmart last month using a U.S. government-issued Visa credit card.

And they’re asking for the public’s help in finding him.

The card was used at the Route 58 Walmart about 1:00 p.m. on Dec. 6. The suspect was caught on store video surveillance, from which images were released to the public Friday.

It was not made known how the suspect acquired the card, or which government agency issued it.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at (800) 220-TIPS.  All calls will be kept confidential.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
