Mary J. Stravinski

Mary J. Stravinski of Riverhead died Jan. 19 at Cedar Lodge Nursing Home in Center Moriches. She was 99.

She was born July 20, 1912, in New Britain, Conn., to Amelia and Nickodem Hodukavich. She married  Peter. J. Stravinski in 1945 at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead and worked as a secretary for the Surrogate’s Court in Riverhead.
Family members said she enjoyed crafts and loved taking care of her grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband in 1975, Ms. Stravinski is survived by her daughters, Gloria Chandler of Massachusetts and Joanne, of Riverhead; her sisters, Stella Kiernan of Mattituck and Theresa Skonieczny of Maine; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visiting hours will take place Sunday, Jan. 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A service will be held Monday, Jan. 23, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Isidore R.C. Church. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram.
