Photos: SWR, Mercy girls compete at League Championship

Behind two first place finishes from senior Shannon McDonnell, the Shoreham-Wading River girls track team placed third at Saturday night’s League V Championship at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood.

McDonnell won the long jump (15 feet 11 1/2 inches), the 600 (1 minute, 38.64 seconds) and also finished fifth in the 300 (44.73).

The Wildcats tallied 52 points to finish behind Bayport-Blue Point (111) and John Glenn (86).

McGann-Mercy finished with 32 points for sixth place.

Shoreham junior Kylie Trettner won the 1,500 race walk in 8:00.74. Mercy sophomore Colleen Edwards was third in the event in 8:50.5 and Shoreham junior Kerri Madden was fifth in 9:17.03.

Shoreham junior Laura Lee was second in the 1,000 (3:12.97). Eighth-grader Kaitlyn Ohrtman was fourth in the 3,000 (11:21.73).

Mercy eighth-grader Meg Tuthill finished second in the 1,500 in 5:10.74. Senior Sasa Vann ran 43.49 in the 300 for third place.

Mercy senior Emily Venesina was fifth in the 1,000 (3:15.29) and sophomore Delina Auciello was fourth in the 600 (1:49.19). Senior Tori Tremble was fourth in the 55 hurdles in 10.0.
