Southampton Blotter: Police discover needle during traffic stop

An East Quogue man who scrambled to hide heroin in his shoe during a traffic stop — but left a needle in plain sight — was arrested on drug charges last week near the Riverside traffic circle, Southampton Town Police said.

Jeremy Rosendahl, 32, of Lakewood Avenue in East Quogue was pulled over on Flanders Road in Riverside last Thursday afternoon for having a suspended registration when the officer noticed a needle inside the car, police said. Mr. Rosendahl then admitted to having heroin in his shoe, officials said.

He was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as driving with a suspended registration and having an uninsured vehicle, police said.

• A 46-inch flat-screen television and a PlayStation 3 game console were reported stolen from a basement apartment in an Old Quogue Road house in Riverside last Wednesday afternoon. The suspect pried open the front door to gain entry to the house, police said, adding that the upstairs tenants did not report seeing anything.
The estimated value of the stolen items was $1,300 for the television and $600 for the PlayStation, police said.

• Jeremy Ryan, 28, whom police described as homeless but from Riverside, was arrested at the county jail in Riverside last Thursday on a bench warrant for failure to pay a fine on a trespassing charge from 2010.

• A coat valued at $200 and a $50 wallet containing credit cards, a Social Security card and a driver’s license were reported stolen from a car parked on Pebble Way in Riverside Saturday morning.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
