Cops: Driver with DWI history caught driving drunk in Flanders

An unlicensed driver who circumvented the interlock device on his vehicle was caught driving drunk when he failed to turn on his headlights, Southampton Town Police said.

Christopher Nevins, 28, of Bellport was stopped on Flanders Road in Riverhead about 7 p.m. Friday.

He was charged with DWI and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was also cited for circumventing his interlock device and driving with insufficient headlights.

He was held overnight and arraigned Saturday morning in Southampton Town Court.

• Southampton Police also announced the arrest of  Desmond Bright, 30, of Riverhead on a bench warrant for failure to pay a fine.
