Joseph M. Micelotta

Joseph M. Micelotta died Feb. 20 at Riverhead Care Center. He was 92.

He was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Corona, Queens, to Frank and Bridget (Vigiletta) Micelotta. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945.  He married Anne Petrullo in 1946 at St. Leo’s Church in Corona.

Mr. Micelotta worked for the federal government at the Bayonne Military Ocean Terminal (MOTBY) in Bayonne, N.J.

He enjoyed sports and was an avid Yankee fan, family members said, and coached his sons’ baseball teams.

He is survived by his wife; his sons, Joseph and Michael, both of Glen Head; his brothers, Eugene, of Riverhead, and Robert, of Las Vegas; his sister, Fran Chestaro of Centereach; and five grandchildren.

Visiting hours will take place Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A service will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery.
