Slide show: See the rest of Riverhead’s ‘Idol’ contestants

While Riverhead Middle School student Sophia Parise of Jamesport wowed the judges to win first-place at the ninth annual Riverhead Idol contest Saturday night, she was up against some stiff competition.

The event, held at the Vail-Leavitt Music Hall, drew 14 contestants who performed in front of a sellout crowd.
