Photos: ‘Jester Jim Show’ comes to Aquebogue

BARBARAELLEN KOCH PHOTO | Jim started the show by having Federico Cardenas, 8, of Riverhead record a loud ear-shattering sound.

The ‘Jester Jim Show’ was presented by the Town of Riverhead Recreation Department at the Human Resource/ Senior Center  in Aquebogue Saturday.

The show was full of juggling, audience participation, balancing and lots of comedy.

With his trunk full of juggling clubs and props, Jim Maurer of Shirley, the 28 year-old behind the “Jester Jim Show,” took to the stage and started his show by having the children and some of the adults make sounds to record a beatbox intro using a looping pedal device. All were glued to the stage as they listened to every sound. He later makes the recording available for free to download from his website.

A youth minister, Mr. Maurer is also a motivational speaker, encouraging people to work together with juggling teamwork and goal setting.

He performs over 200 shows a year for libraries, recreation departments and festivals. He has been performing juggling for 17 years and was even named “best in family entertainment” by the Boy Scouts of America.
